'So what do you think ?' Jason asked.
'It's half my life savings, four million dollars worth of the gold stuff.'
Jason had unfolded a cloth revealing the amulet. 'I was thinking I could store
it in a crewman's locker for now, safest place in the whole world, but I need
you to keep it hush.' Jason told a white-lie, he hadn’t paid four million for
the amulet, he only paid three million for it. 'It's a one-of-a-kind ancient
American amulet.'

Jason and Andrew were standing
the confined space of the cargo bay of the aircraft they were employed to
pilot. The aircraft was a technical feat, and Jason and Andrew were a couple
of only a small number of pilots who knew how to fly the aircraft.
-
The crewman's locker was a small locker
onboard the aircraft that allowed air flight crewmembers to store valuable small
carry items like wallets or watches. The locker’s intent is for short term
storage of personal items that the crew might carry onboard with them. Two of
the crew in this case were Jason and Andrew, highly skilled air-force pilots.
-
Andrew, the second crewman responded:
'Bad idea buddy. You know that's not allowed. I'd have to report it.' 'So you
bought a four million dollar chunk of gold, and didn't have a place to store
it ? Were you drunk or something ?' Andrew thought his co-worker was a bit of
an idiot.
-
The flight locker had an insurance
limit of $50,000. It wasn't intended to be a safe for high value items.
-
Jason replied: 'My financial advisor
said it'd be a great investment; probably all the gold I'd ever need. So I
decided to make a one-time large purchase rather than pay fees multiple times.
So... where’s your gold, hotshot ?’
-
Andrew, a little put-off by his
crew-mates boasting decided to mention something he wouldn't normally get
into. ‘100,000 stored in two different bank
safes, and two million in investments, mutual funds, etc. You better think
some more about your investments buddy. What if you lose that igot ?’
